Pilot Unit for Grades 6-8 This interdisciplinary unit focuses on recent Bark Beetle infestations as evidence of climate change in the Arizona high country. Rising temperatures, drought and human impact have all contributed to dramatic infestations. This is a real exploration using custom maps, precipitation and temperature data, and local research to learn about Arizona climate change, forest health, and bark beetles. Students will interpret data, identify patterns and make predictions.
This unit is aligned to the Arizona State Academic Standards.
